Roasted Beets with Walnuts, Spinach and Goat Cheese

Though I often prepare chilled or room temperature roasted beet salads, there are actually several ways to consume these little red gems!  I almost always start by roasting them; and the outer skins should be peeled regardless of how you choose to prepare them download t-online mail. Ingredients:

1 Beet, per person – roasted and peeled
Olive Oil, Salt & Pepper, for roasting in foil
1/2 Cup Walnuts, chopped and dry roasted
2 Tablespoons Walnut Oil, to taste
2 Tablespoons Champagne Vinegar
4 Tablespoons Soft Goat Cheese, or more to taste
2 Green Onions, chopped
4 Sprigs Fresh Thyme, chopped
1 Cup Fresh Spinach, chopped
Salt & Ground Black Pepper, to taste

I served this as a side dish along side of shrimp and scallops; as well as an almond rice dish.  It paired perfectly with the CROZE 2010 Chardonnay.

I’ve been hungry for “Tabouli” ever since I last enjoyed it in CA.  It is a Levantine Arab salad traditionally made of bulgur, tomatoes, cucumbers, finely chopped parsley, mint, onion, and garlic and seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, and salt which means downloading.  We ate it as part of our meal at Dish Dash, in Sunnyvale, CA on one of Bill’s business trips outlook emails.  It is most common in European, Middle Eastern, and South Asian cuisine.  The word bulgur is of Turkish origin.  It is high in fiber and protein, and low in fat and calories podcast bei spotify herunterladen.  It has more fiber than oats, buckwheat, or corn and is a food that offers bulk and nutrients to fill you up without adding pounds.  It has fewer calories, less fat, and more than twice the fiber of brown rice dvd player herunterladen pc.

2 Green Onions (Scallions), White and Green parts chopped 
1/2 Cup Fresh Mint Leaves, chopped
1/2 Cup Flat Leaf Parsley Leaves, chopped
1/2 English Cucumber, unpeeled and chopped fine
1 Cups Grape or Cherry tomatoes, cut in half
1/2 Cup Cows Milk Feta, crumbled
Salt & Pepper to Taste

French Green Beans with Red Pepper and Onions

We love French Green Beans.  Also called string beans, green beans are made up of small seeds encased in long pods.  Because they are harvested while still young, the green pods are tender and edible ebooks romans gratisen.  Green beans are available year-round with a peak season of May to October, but I love when I can find them at Costco!  They should be crisp and bright green, without blemishes or signs of wilting herunterladen.  If you’re buying them without a package, try to choose beans that are of similar size for even cooking.  I was looking for some way to change things up and this side dish worked well with items that I hand on hand in the fridge smule aufnahme herunterladen!  Easy and tasty!

Ingredients:

1 Red Bell Pepper, chopped
3/4 Cup Onion, chopped

Baked Chicken

Ingredients:

Brine:
1 Gallon Warm Water
2/3 Cup Kosher Salt
1/2 Cup Sugar
2/3 Cup Soy Sauce
1/4 Cup Olive Oil
1 Medium Onion, sliced
2-4 Tablespoons Sage, fresh ground
1 Large Fryer Chicken, cut into eight pieces
1/2 Stick Butter, melted
1 Cup Flour
1 Tablespoon Sweet Paprika
1 Tablespoon Thyme, dried and crumbled
Salt & White Pepper, to taste

Begin with brining the chicken in advance tigerjython.  You do this by pouring the warm water into a large dish and then adding the other brining ingredients and stirring until the sugar and salt have dissolved herunterladen.  Allow the brine to cool to about room temperature.  Add the chicken into it, cover and refrigerate for at least two to four hours stirring and turning from time to time download nasheed.

To roast the chicken, remove it from the brine, reserving the onions and set aside; then rinse off the chicken and pat it dry with paper towels.  

Combine the flour, salt, pepper and other seasonings in a shallow dish, or plastic bag.  Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture and place it into a baking that has been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray dish skin-side-up.

Scatter the reserved sliced onions about and bake uncovered for about an hour or until the juices run clear and the chicken is nicely browned and cooked all the way through.

Bread Sticks or Knots

I was hosting the kids and Bill’s folks for dinner recently and wanted to make some fresh bread sticks.  I hadn’t pulled out my bread maker machine for a while and each and every time we enjoy the soft breads, I question why I just don’t use it more often!  This recipe was based on one I found on line, with a few small changes.  It’s texture is a bit heavier than what I typically make, almost like a biscuit and is somewhat sweeter than my favorite “go to” one that is fluffier and more similar to a hot dog bun texture epson treiber download kostenlos.  None the less, these were delicious and fun in either the shape of a bread stick or knot.

 Ingredients:

3/4 Cup Water, warm
1 Tablespoon Butter, cut in small chunks
1 Tablespoon Sugar, heaping
1 teaspoon Salt
2 1/4 Cups Flour
1 1/8 teaspoon Yeast

Using a bread machine, add ingredients to your bread machine in the order listed above.

Set machine to the “dough” setting and run vimeo filme downloaden.  After dough cycle is complete, place dough on a floured work surface and shape into a long rectangle.  Make sure that you don’t press it too thin while leaving it about three quarters to an inch thick.  Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into 10-14 short vertical strips.

To tie strips of dough into a knot, cut the dough  into little balls.  Roll each ball with your hands to flatten it out using your fingers and palms.

Stretch out the dough making strips with the ends slightly thinner than the middle asus winflash.  Gently hold the dough and lay the strips over your fingers.  Wrap it around your fingers and and push the tail up tucking the ends underneath.  Place them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Remember that the dough will rise, so leave some space between each knot videos aus mediatheken ipad.  Once all the knots are tied, brush them (or the sticks) with a little olive oil.  Loosely cover them with a flour sack towel or plastic wrap and let them rise again until doubled in size.
