Beef Stroganoff

Written By: Chris - Dec• 20•12

We had been eating leftovers following a recent dinner party for a couple of days.  I’m usually good for having something again once, but am spoiled and then want different flavors through out the week.  If I have given as much of the extras away and am unable to freeze something, I usually try to transform it into another dish audible!

We had an ambulance of homemade dried wheat pasta, about a pound of filet of beef and some caramelized onions on hand.  If you didn’t have left overs in your fridge, you would just prepare your beef by seasoning it with salt & pepper, sear it in a hot pan drizzled with olive oil and slice it thinly.  You could then caramelize your onions and even used prepared store bought pasta.  This was a delicious and healthy stroganoff that tasted rich and delicious while very easy to prepare download star trek online for free german!

Scalloped Potatoes

Written By: Chris - Dec• 13•12

We were hosting dinner a couple weekends ago for our friends Deb and Robin who we had not seen in a while and I wanted to make something that was special.  Scalloped potatoes sounded great along side of Grilled pork chops.  This dish turned out quite tasty internet explorer for free!   If you know me, you are aware that I am a big fan of white dishes and I try to find many shapes of them!  I think that placing food on white plates makes the food pop and look very appealing.  I found a great price and I bought myself a half a dozen new Ramekins not too long ago at Pier One.  I like the shallow oval shape and they are different than the round ones that I already had.  Recently I watched a show on the Food Network with Sandra Lee where she was preparing individual scalloped potatoes that included Gruyere cheese within the layers.  Since I happened to have some of this cheese on hand in the fridge, and she prepared hers in a dish like my new ones I decided to create this scalloped potato dish!  I searched and searched and was not able to find Sandra’s recipe, so I came up with these instead herunterladen. I cooked these for an hour, but Bill and I agreed that it could have baked a bit longer as we would have liked our potatoes a bit softer.  They tasted great none the less herunterladen!

Ingredients:

4 Potatoes, peeled and sliced
1/4 Cup Milk, per dish
1/2 Cup of Half and Half, per dish
1 1/2 Cup Gruyere Cheese, shredded
1/2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
1/2 Onion, sliced

Sweet Onion Gruyere Dip

Written By: Chris - Dec• 10•12

I was pleased when I finally found Gruyère Cheese at my local Costco!  Their prices are great and I find that I spend almost the same amount of money on a large chunk of cheese as I would a small wedge at the local grocery store.  I often purchase large packages of cheese, cut them and freeze some after sealing it in a vacuum pack.  The only cheese that I’ve found that doesn’t freeze well is Cheddar because it sometimes crumbles.  But if you are going to use it in something like home-made macaroni and cheese, it keeps just fine herunterladen!

Bill and I were planning for an upcoming wine dinner.  He had met Oscar at Beau Vigne some time ago in St. Helena in the heart of Napa.  Bill immediately began planning for the December event.  Oscar would come to our home to discuss and pour the wine and I would prepare the food to pair with the wines din herunterladen.

This appetizer dish was inspired by something I had eaten out at a local restaurant.  Of course I didn’t know what was in their version of the dip, but I did a little looking on-line and came up with my own recipe.  It paired wonderfully with the 2011 Reserve Chardonnay and our guests at the event let me know it was a hit herunterladen!

Ingredients:

2 Cups of Caramelized Onions:
2 Tablespoons Butter
1/4 C Brown Sugar
Salt & Pepper
1 Cup White Wine (Chardonnay), reduced
1/4 Cup fresh Thyme
2 Cups Gruyère Cheese Shredded
1 Cup Sour Cream
1 Cup Mayonnaise

Saute the onions in butter over medium low heat until translucent.  Add the brown sugar, salt & Pepper, wine and thyme.  Cook until the wine is reduced by about half.  Mix onion mixture with sour cream, onions and shredded cheese 3sat filme downloaden.

Sugar Roll Out Cookies

Written By: Chris - Dec• 09•12

Michelle and Jacob came over one evening last week to bake cookies!  Her favorite are the roll out sugar type and mine are the spritz, so we made both!  Sometimes roll out’s can be challenging to work with, but these turned out just wonderful, but be sure to chill the dough!  They are not too sweet, and taste great just as they are but are pretty on a tray if you decorate them with frosting wekgeluiden downloaden.

The only problem we have with this recipe, is that when I wrote down the ingredients, we couldn’t remember if we used three or four cups of flour.  I suggest starting with three cups and you’ll know right away if you need to add the fourth because the dough will be too wet.  Michelle thinks it was four cups!  These were the easiest roll out’s I’ve ever made spiele für den pc kostenlos herunterladen!

Ingredients:

1 Cup Butter (room temperature)
1 1/4 Cup White Sugar
3 or 4 Cups sifted Flour (plus some for rolling)
2 Eggs
1 Tablespoons Vanilla
1 Teaspoon Almond Extract
1 Teaspoon Salt
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda

Using a  mixer, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.  Beat in eggs and vanilla.  Sift and stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt jedes video downloaden firefox.

Cover with plastic wrap and chill dough for at least one hour (we made the spritz while this dough chilled) sims download 3.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Cut the dough in half and work with half at a time.  Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.  (We prefer ours thinner.)  Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter Download purchased music from itunes. Place cookies on cookie sheets that have been lined with parchment paper.  They don’t spread much, so they can be close together.

Depending on your oven, bake 6 to 8 minutes.  We prefer ours soft and not crunchy, so less cooking time fortnite für nintendo 3ds downloaden.

Cool completely!  Decorate if you wish!  This recipe made roughly 8 dozen cookies filme auf handy downloaden. but it will depend on how large of cutters you choose to use!

Enjoy!

Cheers!
