Baked Butterflied Jumbo Shrimp

We enjoy eating shrimp pretty often around our house.  After dining out recently I was inspired to try preparing the shrimp a bit different at home after a look and taste of Bill’s meal.  He had ordered Garlic Shrimp “Oreganata”, which included oven roasted shrimp in a breadcrumb crust.  It was served with Capellini pasta that was tossed in a fresh tomato-basil sauce.  I ordered a chicken cannelloni pasta dish that was filled with roasted chicken, fresh ricotta cheese and spinach, finished with Alfredo and a touch of marinara sauce!  I will attempt to make this for a future blog too! 

I had taken a couple of snap shots with my iPhone of Bill’s dinner and re-created what I thought was in the shrimp piece of the dish.  We invited Dave & Heather over and ate in for Bill’s birthday.  At his request we enjoyed steak and this shrimp along with some other sides and some terrific wine.  My innovative re-creation turned out great ps4 update!

Ingredients:

16 Jumbo Shrimp, 4 per person
1/3 Cup Melted Butter
1 Garlic Clove, smashed
Salt & Pepper
1 Cup Panko Crumbs
Fresh Parsley or Oregano, chopped

The next two images are the actual shrimps from Bill’s dinner out.  I wanted to see the method of butterflying the shrimp, plus it would remind me later of what I wanted to re-create tampermonkey herunterladen.

I buy the jumbo Shrimp at Costco and to my advantage, they are almost always de-veined and come with the head removed.  Most of the time the shell is still in tact.  I like the look and prefer to leave the last “knuckle” of shell on at the tail while removing all of the rest and discarding it herunterladen.  (The chef left it on the tail end of the shrimp as well)  If you have to de-vein them yourself, hold the shrimp between your thumb and forefinger, set the paring knife right at the tip of the head end and then drag it down lightly and carefully along the back side of the shrimp, from the head to the tail.  As it opens up, you’ll see a black vein appear, which is the digestive track – remove it and rinse the shrimps well with cold water Download movies from netflix pc.

Butterflying along the back is the easiest way, since it simply further opens up the back where the cut was made to remove the vein.  While holding the tail end, follow the same cut deep into the shrimp, but not all the way through so that it opens up wide.  The shrimp is split from the head all the way to the tail griefergames.neten.

Phyllo Beef Bake

I had some store-bought Phyllo pastry dough sheets in the freezer to make simple appetizers recently.  Jon and Laura were joining us for dinner and brought along some of the pre-formed cups for our dinner, so I didn’t bother with what I had thawed out.  (I had taken frozen phyllo dough and thawed it overnight in the refrigerator)  I didn’t want to re-freeze it and know that it can be used for savory or sweet dishes.  Phyllo makes dishes taste special.  It is buttery, it flakes, and tastes great adobe sign herunterladen!

It was a fun Sunday in the kitchen and I had plenty of time and also realized I had plenty of pastry dough!  A lot of sheets came in the box!  I decided to create a dish that resembled Spanakopita, the classic buttery spinach-feta pie, but then I read about “Hortopita”, which is like Spanakopita, but better.  It uses any sort of greens mixture (horta in Greek) plus onions or scallions and fragrant herbs!  You could use olive oil rather than butter if you want it less rich.  I also decided to add ground beef so it would be a hearty meal.  I had fresh spinach and also included fresh broccoli because it’s what I had on hand in my fridge Download tantra music for free!   This recipe requires a little bit of preparation, but was well worth the effort!

Ingredients:

1 large Onion, chopped
1 pound of 80/20 Ground Beef
1 Quart Baggie (about 2 Cups) of fresh Broccoli
1 Cup chopped fresh Spinach
2 Green Onions, chopped
1 small container of Ricotta Cheese
1 Cup Feta Cheese
2 Eggs (I use Egg Beaters)
2 Garlic Cloves
Dried Oregano
Dried Thyme
Salt & Pepper

1 Stick Butter, melted

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees herunterladen.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet and add the onions and ground beef.  Cook until almost browned and onions are softened, add the garlic and cook for about another two minutes.  Drain any access fat and set aside download excel formulare for free.

Wild Rice Turkey & Cashew Cold Salad

Prior to Thanksgiving dinner, I asked my kids for any “special requests”…. This is my 18 year old son Andrew’s favorite!  I prepared it especially for him, but made plenty for all of us and was able to share an extra bowl with Bill’s sisters family for their dinner.  I typically place the salad in a beautiful serving dish and top it with a few additional toasted and salted Cashews.  This salad is delicious any time of the year and will store for days, but if you think you’ll have left overs, don’t mix the nuts in until just before you are ready to serve.  Otherwise they become soft and mushy.  This is also an excellent way to use up left over turkey if you still have some in the fridge herunterladen!

Easy Homemade Stuffing

Thanksgiving has come and gone.  It was a wonderful celebration with our kids at home, but this year was different.  Rather than me cooking our turkey, our friend Dwayne “smoked” ours for us!  He’s got a huge smoker, which holds several at a time tiktok app kostenlos downloaden. Ingredients:

1/2 Cup Milk
1 Stick of melted Butter
2 Tablespoons Fresh Sage Leafs, chopped
Salt & Pepper

 

Prior to brining the bird, I removed the neck and the giblets from the insides.  I know these parts of the bird are not the most attractive, but they are used for adding the “homemade” flavors to your stuffing videos for free from youtube legal!  It makes a nice turkey stock and the giblets minced add a unique flavor to the dish.

Fresh Hot Spinach & Artichoke Dip

A pretty easy and popular appetizers which goes over pretty well at a gathering is hot Artichoke dip.  I’ve eaten spinach dip cold, but liked the idea of adding fresh spinach to my artichoke recipe because I somehow justified that it would make it somewhat healthier.  I recently also had an abundance on hand in my fridge and thought it would be a good way to utilize some of it!   If you do any research at all, you will find that Spinach is low in calories and high in vitamins and it is one of the most nutrient-dense foods in existence.  I’m fortunate that Bill likes it in just about any form, so I keep trying to put it into the dishes I create icloud all photos at the same time! This is vibrant colored appetizer and was enjoyed by all.  We ate it on top of crunch garlic smeared crustini’s !

Ingredients:

2-3 Cups Chopped Spinach

1 1/2 Cup Mayo
1 Cup grated Parmesan Cheese
2 Garlic Cloves, smashed
1 Cup Mozzarella Cheese, grated
