Roasted Vegetable Medley and Pears with Blue Cheese

We go in streaks of blue cheese and I’ve really been liking it!  I had recently prepared a surf and turf meal that Bill paired with both a red and a white wine!  I had some Castello Blue Cheese on hand, which is a soft, triple cream cheese that hails from the land of Denmark.  This Danish cheese is known for having a pleasantly sharp taste and an appetizing flavor herunterladen.  It is made from cow’s milk and is mild, while creamy.  It goes well with a variety of food pairings and gets its distinct, streaked appearance from the mold used to produce it.  I know, it sounds gross to some people, but I’ve grown fond of many of the milder varieties.  You can serve blue cheese on its own, add it to salads or even use it as a base for dips and salad dressings em4 mods download kostenlos.  It has a number of nutritional drawbacks – like being high in fat and calories, which means that it’s best consumed in moderation.  But it does offer some nutritional value, and eating it boosts your vitamin and mineral intake of protein and vitamin B-12.

Ingredients:

10 Brussels Sprouts, cut in half
1 Cup Cauliflower, cut into small pieces
1/2 Onion, roasted
2 or 3 Pears, peeled, cored and cut in half
Fresh Lemon Juice, to toss pears and prevent browning
2-4 Tablespoons of Seasoning
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
2-4 Tablespoons Blue Cheese
Salt & Pepper

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

I start by roasting onions, which takes much longer than the other vegetables spiele die man herunterladen kann.   Cut the onions in half and season with salt and pepper.  Place on cookie sheet, cut side down and bake until done – when the bottoms, or cut side has turned golden brown and caramelized.  It usually takes 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the size.

Choose semi firm, but ripe pears.  Peel the pears and slice them into halves.  Remove the core and seeds from each pear.  Toss them in some lemon juice to prevent them from turning brown and then brush them with a light coating of olive oil

Once onions are almost cooked, remove the skins and discard ftp files.  I cut them into smaller pieces added the brussels sprouts to the same baking sheet.  These need to roast for 35 to 40 minutes.  The pears need about 20 minutes, as does the cauliflower so add these items during the final portion of the cooking time accordingly Download android games for free.

Once the vegetables and pears are cooked, cut the pears gently into cubes about the same size as the other vegetables.

Ground Beef & Gravy with Mashed Potatoes

One of my fondest memories of grade school lunch was hamburger and gravy over mashed potatoes.  Recently, I had some fresh ground beef and was looking for a simple, but delicious dinner idea and created this meal based on memories and items that I had on hand epson scan software kostenlos.  I added some broccoli and though it was simple, it was really good!

Ingredients: 

1 Onion, chopped
1 Pound of 80-20% Ground Beef
3 large russet potatoes, washed and cut into equal sized chunks
2 Tablespoons Butter,  for potatoes
1/2 Cup Milk or Half and Half, for potatoes
1 package Birds Eye Steamfresh Fresh Frozen Broccoli Florets
2 Tablespoons Butter, for gravy
1 Cups Milk, for gravy
1/2 Cup Potato Water, reserved for gravy
2-4 Tablespoons Johnny’s Beef Au Jus Concentrate
1/4 Cup Flour
Salt and Black Pepper, to taste

Shrimp Skewers with Cream Sauce

I was looking through images recently and came across these photos of these shrimp skewers, served with cream sauce that we had as part of a special Wine Dinner that Bill and I hosted back in early December of 2012 minecraft forge for free!  Boy they look good that I’m thinking I will have to make some more now that the spring season is just about here, allowing me to grill more frequently cewe software!  The shrimp was a part of the first course of that wine dinner, paired with a 2011 Reserve Chardonnay from Beau Vigne and it was delicious!

Ingredients:
Shrimp Skewers, cooked with Olive Oil, Salt & Pepper on the Grill

Sauce:
2 Tablespoons Butter
2 Garlic Cloves, minced
2 Shallot Cloves, minced
1/3 Cup Flour
1 Cup White Wine
1 1/2 Cups Heavy Cream
Fresh Lemon
Salt and pepper, to taste

Melt butter over medium heat in a sauce pan windows 7 designs for free 64 bit. Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts

Ingredients:

1 pound Bacon
2 (8 ounce) Cans whole Water Chestnuts, drained
1 Cup Brown Sugar, packed
1 Cup Ketchup
1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce

Egg Bake with Focaccia Bread

If you want to impress your family or friends for brunch, make an egg bake!  In this era of recycle and re-use, why not do the same with leftovers download mediathek filme?  I often have a bit of this or that left over and usually have veggies.  It is so simple to throw them into an omelet or an egg bake the next day, but also keep in mind you might also want to use them in a soup, or blend them to make a puree radio kostenlos herunterladen.

6 Eggs, scrambled
1/2 to 3/4 Cup Half & Half, fat free
1 Onion, chopped
1 Tablespoon Oil
Ham Lunch Meat, chopped
Stuffed Mushrooms, filling removed and sliced
1/2 Zucchini, chopped
1/2 Yellow Bell Pepper, chopped
Spinach, fresh chopped
2 Tablespoons Thyme, dried
2/3 Cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded
1 Cup Focaccia Bread, cubed
Salt & Pepper, to taste

Top with chopped spinach and sliced mushrooms (I put them only on half for Bill!).  Top with shredded cheese and cubed focaccia bread.

Whisk together eggs and half and half until combined.

Pour the egg mixture gently over the ingredients in the dish.  Bake uncovered for 45 minutes to an hour or until the casserole is solid and golden brown. on top!
